This week we
continued with our designs for the two paintings for Tropical World in Leeds.
Year 5/6 put colour to their pencil drawings and Year 3/4 researched tropical
animals to then draw on to the large scale plan of the painting.
Robin Hood prides itself on being Art Mark Gold Award winners. Our OFSTED also awarded us with an Outstanding standard for our work not only in the Arts but across our curriculum. This blog showcases some of our amazing art and creativity projects taking place across school.

This week in
Art club we have continued to develop our designs for the two large paintings
for Tropical World in Leeds.
We completed
our individual designs for the painting inspired by the book “The Great Kapok
Tree” by Lynne Cherry. In these, each of
the children thought about all the animals in the story and how they could
place them in the painting, whilst including the sleeping man and of course,
the kapok tree.
We then used
large pieces of paper to construct the tree on a background cut to the actual
size of the painting 135cm x 210cm to see how big it needs to be and where it
looks best. The children then drew the animals and the sleeping man on to the
background to understand the scale of the painting and to look at the composition.
The Year 5/6
children continued designing their paintings based on the book “A Walk in the
Rainforest” by Kristin Joy Pratt. First
they are producing line drawings, making sure they fill the paper with detail
and later they will introduce colour.

Art Club- 6th November
Today was our first Artclub session of this year. Over the next few weeks we will be creating
two large paintings and sculptures that will be displayed in Tropical World in
Leeds.
The first painting is inspired by the book “The Great Kapok
Tree” by Lynne Cherry and our Year 3 and 4 pupils who attend the Artclub will
be creating their artwork around this story.
We read the book and the children agreed on the essential design
elements within the painting. They then set
about drawing their own ideas on how it should look.
The book “A Walk in the Rainforest” by Kristin Joy Pratt is
the stimulus behind the second painting.
It will be made up of the alphabet which our Year 5 and 6 pupils will be
creating. Today they have chosen the
letters they will be working on, out of a basket, and have been researching and
drawing things you will see in the rainforest beginning with those letters.
