Thursday 31st May

Well today Artclub moved venue to the Year 3/4 corridor which has a lovely large, airy space for big painting.  We continued with our painting based on the book "Tooth Fairy" by Audrey Wood which is one of three paintings specifically designed for Beechwood Dental Care in Woodlesford.

The middle part of the backgound was painted in white with added sparkles.  This part of the painting is to be the "Hall of Perfect Teeth".

Pedestals, teeth, the Tooth Fairy, the Tooth Fairy's chair, wheelbarrows carrying the yellow teeth to the Tooth Dungeon, sacks of teeth, toothbrushes for scrubbing and the Bubbling Bath have all been painted today and with super speed!

We have added detail to our Tooth Robots and Tooth Elves...

...and stuck stars on our magical night sky.

Mrs. Mistry and myself will be putting all the characters and props on to the background in the near future then we will be able to see what final details will need to be done.

We will look forward to seeing all you Reception Artclubbers on the first Thursday back to school after the holiday when we will share "Bear's Loose Tooth" by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.

This will be the inspiration behind our third big painting.

Thursday 24th May

Today at Artclub we continued with our story "Tooth Fairy".

We read the story together and talked about which part of the story we were going to put in our big cummulative painting for Beechwood Dental Care in Woodlesford.

We all painted a tooth robot ( and there are a lot of them, as they need to clean the "not so sparkly teeth" the tooth fairy collects.)

We all painted a tooth elf, as there are lots of them in the story (because they build the castle out of lost teeth).

After that we set about cutting out lots of tooth shapes which will be stuck on to the painting.

Some of us got to work on the background this week.

If you did not, then it will be your turn next week, if you want to?

Just a special thanks to Amelia and Lia who each week come along to Artclub and help by printing stuff off the computer, help to put paints out, get stuck in with painting and then help to clean up afterwards.  Thankyou girls!

The Titus painting has been put together and it looks fabulous!

Thursday 17th May

We moved on to a new story today called the "Tooth Fairy" by Audrey Wood".

This will be the inspiration behind our second painting for Beechwood Dental Care in Woodlesford.

Miss Vollands read the story to us and then we drew our favourite part of the story.  Many of us drew the Tooth Fairy's castle, made by the Tooth Elves from the teeth she has collected over the years.

The Tooth Dungeons below the castle were also a favourite.  Here, the teeth that are not perfectly clean are sent to be expertly cleaned by the Robot Tooth Cleaners in the Bubbling Bath.

The Hall of Perfect Teeth was also a favourite, along with the three main characters, the Tooth Fairy, Jessica and Matthew.

The children used their imaginations to create these drawings having first heard the story.  Mrs. Mistry, Miss Vollings and myself will use all their fantastic artwork and put it into a large painting, which they will be starting on next week.

Thursday 10th May

This session of Artclub was the last one devoted to Titus's Troublesome Tooth.

We needed to paint the backdrops for the scenes in our recount of the story.

There were some beautiful and fabulous ones painted!

On top of this, some of us added details to our characters painted last week, whilst some painted new ones and others wrote the characters names which will make up the border.

Thankyou so much to Miss Vollands who is sharing her art expertise each week with us.

Mrs. Mistry and myself cannot wait until Wednesday after school when we will be putting the painting together for the first time!..........

Next week we move on to a new story, called "Tooth Fairy" by Audrey Wood.

I can't wait!

Thursday 3rd May

Well, this week we got the paint out to continue on with our project for Beechwood Dental Care in Woodlesford.

We built on our drawings from last week and painted the characters from the story "Titus's Troublesome Tooth".

Titus is a goat who eats everything, until one day he wakes up with a poorly tooth.

As he wanders around the farmyard grumbling to himself he meets the other animals, Derry the donkey, Sadie the Hen, Polly the cat, Basil the Bull and Daphne the duck who all offer their own way of taking out the troublesome tooth.

None of which Titus is fond of!

There will be a chance for all the children to draw and paint the characters which will be put altogether to tell the story.  Next week we will be painting our backgrounds and completing the border.

Reception Artclub. Thursday 26th April

Welcome to all our Reception Artclubbers. Mrs. Mistry and Mrs. Chin do hope you enjoyed your first week?

We have an amazing project to work on in the next eleven weeks.  We have been asked by Beechwood Dental Care in Woodlesford to create some artwork that will brighten up their entrance hallway.

It is an important space as it is the first area and the last, that their patients see, so it is important we do a good job!

It is a long hallway and we will be working on three large collaborative paintings to display there. The first painting is inspired by a book called "Titus's Troublesome Tooth".

It is a story about a goat who one day gets a poorly tooth.  As he moans to his farmyard friends they all come up with bizarre and peculiar ways to extract his tooth.  None of which Titus is very happy about!

Today we have read through the book and looked at the illustrations. Then each of us selected a character (or two) and drew a scene from the book.

These scenes will be put together to create the design of the painting, which we will start next week.

We look forward to seeing you then.

Last, but certainly not least, these "eggstremely" fabulous creations........
