Thursday 15th May

Today at Artclub we started our observational drawings of the objects we have chosen to draw.  First we had a look at the art pencils and experimented with pressure and thickness of line.  Then we started our pencil drawings.

We have chosen objects that are special to us and some of us have brought in some objects from home, whilst others have chosen to use an image they have sourced - sports cars are extremely popular with our boys.

Whilst drawing was happening there was also a printmaking table set up where we could try out using Safeprint.  This is a block which can be drawn into and then when the printing paint is rolled over it's surface the embossed parts do not hold the paint and so do not print, leaving white lines.

It was fun to use the rollers and exciting to see the experimental prints that came from the process.

After having a go at drawing on the Safeprint block it tells you what may work as a print when doing your observational drawing. The drawings will be developed into patterns that will be printed in the style of Andy Warhol.

These are the experimental prints using the Safeprint block that some of us did today.
